Shae Huntington: Coach Huntington grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School, where she played varsity soccer for four years, served as team captain her senior year, and earned all-district honors. Huntington then attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, earning all-conference honors as a member of the Rattler Women’s Soccer Team, where she completed a bachelor of arts in English with a minor in Exercise Sports Science. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Education Administration from Concordia University Texas. Upon graduation, Huntington accepted a position at Texas Lutheran University (TLU) in Seguin, Texas, as the Women’s Assistant Soccer Coach. Following her work at TLU, she became the Head Soccer Coach and English Teacher at Judson High School in Converse, Texas for a span of 20 years. Under Coach Huntington’s leadership, Judson girls’ soccer achieved several play-off appearances, district championships, and consecutive winning seasons. In Harlan's first two years at competing at the varsity level, the Hawks won back to back District Championships and qualified as Area Finalists. Last season the Hawks qualified as Bi-District Finalist coming out of an incredibly tough 6A Northside District. The Hawks have built a foundation of success and continue to soar to new heights. Huntington finds pride in coaching and teaching at Harlan High School and is looking forward in continuing to build a strong and successful soccer program for the Hawks.
Geselle Vela: Coach Vela is a native to San Antonio, Texas, and a graduate of Judson High School where she was a four year varsity letterman, receiving all-district honors as a defender. She completed her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a minor in Kinesiology; later earning a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership. Coach Vela brings over 30 years of playing and coaching experience at various levels. Her early tenure as an educator started as an assistant soccer coach at Highlands High School, later taking the reins as the head coach after two years. Following her time at Highlands, Coach Vela was selected to start up and develop the women’s soccer program at Veterans Memorial High School in Judson ISD. Under her leadership, both programs experienced several years of winning seasons and state playoff appearances. Coach Vela strives to build crucial life lessons through the game of soccer. She brings relentless passion to grow young individuals into leaders that will continue to soar to new heights on and off the field. Lastly, Coach Vela is honored to have the opportunity to continue to build success while representing Harlan High School.
